Jenkins County Schools has partnered with ACCEL Schools to pioneer the first district-based virtual school program serving students across the state of Georgia. This trailblazing collaboration sets a new standard in digital education, providing learners with access to a high-quality online learning experience aligned with the state’s academic standards and requirements.

According to Dr. John Paul Hearn, Superintendent of Jenkins County School System, “As a rural district, we are now able to offer our students a wide range of courses, such as 30+ Advanced Placement courses and over 50 Career and Technology-related classes. We are also going to be able to bring this option to rural and all students across the state.”

The recent update to Georgia’s open enrollment law paves the way for school districts to establish statewide virtual programs, empowering learners to access an education that transcends geographical boundaries.

Families are increasingly seeking practical and versatile solutions to meet a wide array of academic requirements – from tailored support and credit recovery to college-accredited courses and career preparation.

“Parents are recognizing the power of online learning as a dynamic and adaptable tool to help their children achieve academic excellence while addressing their unique life goals and circumstances,” says Ron Packard, CEO, and Founder of ACCEL Schools. “We are honored to collaborate with Jenkins County and contribute to the expansion of educational opportunities in Georgia.”

The tuition-free Virtual Preparatory Academy of Georgia @Jenkins County is currently accepting applications for tuition-free students in grades K-10 for the 2024-25 school year. To cater to the diverse needs of families, the school program will accept enrollments weekly throughout the academic year. Those interested can learn more and enroll online at https://ga.vprep.com.
