Read Time:2 Minute, 25 Second

Tigerlily Foundation proudly announces its Annual EmPOWER Ball, an evening dedicated to celebrating patients, advocates, healthcare providers, and leaders impacting women’s health, while raising critical funds for programs that champion young women before, during, and after cancer.

The event is set to take place on Sat., Oct. 19, 2024, from 6:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m., at the esteemed Waldorf Astoria DC in the Presidential Ballroom.

Attendees will experience an extraordinary evening of beauty, empowerment, and impact, inspired by the opulence and grandeur of Bridgerton, honoring individuals whose accomplishments epitomize resilience in the face of adversity. These Honorees are trailblazers and leaders in health advocacy, innovative treatments, and addressing healthcare inequities, committed to making a lasting impact.

The event will be co-chaired by Maimah Karmo, President and CEO of Tigerlily Foundation, and Dr. Tania Small, Senior Vice President and head of Medical Affairs at BMS. Award-winning journalist and News4 Anchor Shawn Yancy will serve as the Mistress of Ceremonies, guiding attendees through an evening dedicated to honoring heroes and advancing the important work of helping young women affected by cancer.

Tigerlily Foundation will celebrate 11 individuals at the EmPOWER Ball for their advocacy and leadership:

  • Dr. Kim Rhoads
  • Dr. Sigourney Bonner, Black in Cancer
  • Dr. Nadine J. Barrett, Ph.D., MA., MS
  • Dr. Sherri Neal Crowley, Chief Diversity Officer for HCA Healthcare
  • Dr. Sarah Horton
  • Catrina M. Crutcher, MBA, CSM
  • Jade Curtis, BlackDoctor.org
  • Dr. Mandi L. Pratt-Chapman, MA, Ph.D., Hon-OPN-CG
  • Tameka Johnson
  • Michelle Anderson-Benjamin, MHA
  • Dr. Gary Puckrein, National Minority Quality Forum

“It is an honor to be recognized as a Warrior by the cancer community, but the biggest reward is for my kids, my legacy, to see their mom still standing against all odds,” said Michelle Anderson-Benjamin, MHA, who will be receiving the KM Warrior Award. “As a Tigerlily ANGEL Advocate, I’ve been given the opportunity to share my story, educate others, and be a voice for the voiceless. While living with this illness can feel isolating, having the Tigerlily family as part of my village proves that ‘No One Fights Alone’ in this community.”

Join the Tigerlily Foundation team in making a difference and celebrating the resilience and strength of the human spirit. Sponsorship and tickets for this event are available now, with black tie optional attire. Be part of the growing list of generous sponsors such as Amgen, Merck, Gilead Oncology, Agendia, BeiGene, BMS, HCA Healthcare, Lilly, Pfizer, Eisai, GRAIL, PhRMA, Real Chemistry and Stemline Therapeutics.
