The African American Chamber of Commerce to Hold Fourth Annual National Convening of Black Mayors in Philadelphia

Highlighting the theme “Beyond Barriers, Building Bridges: Cultivating a Legacy of Black Business Ownership for Generations,” the event will feature Pennsylvania’s Lt. Governor Austin Davis, along with influential Black politicians and business leaders from across the country

The African American Chamber of Commerce of PA, NJ, and DE (AACC), the leading advocate for minority-owned business in the Delaware Valley, is pleased to announce their fourth-annual National Convening of Black Mayors, set to take place in Philadelphia August 14th and 15th, featuring the National Black Business Month Expo. Spanning several locations across the city, the two-day event will feature Mayors and esteemed leaders from across the country, including Pennsylvania’s own Lt. Governor, Dr. Austin Davis who will kick off Day 2 at Comcast Spectacor/Wells Fargo Center with opening remarks.

With insights from influential leaders like Lt. Governor Austin Davis, and mayors from across the nation, we are poised to have impactful discussions and develop actionable strategies that address systemic barriers to economic opportunity, strengthening the communities we serve. This event is a testament to the power of collaboration and the importance of building strong support systems to overcome obstacles and drive success.”

Taking place Wednesday, August 14th, and Thursday, August 15th, the National Convening of Black Mayors features the National Black Business Month Expo’s carefully curated agenda, specially selected speakers and subject matter experts to provide tangible solutions applicable for the Delaware Valley and beyond. Featuring VIP breakfast and evening receptions, a keynote address, networking events, and speaking engagements, the theme is “Beyond Barriers, Building Bridges: Cultivating a Legacy of Black Business Ownership for Generations,” and will cover topics for discussion such as Overcoming Obstacles and Strategies for SuccessCity Specific Challenges and SolutionsTaking a Deep Dive into Data and TrendsBuilding Effective Support SystemsAdvocacy Strategies and Building Alliances, to name a few.

With Mayors attending from across the country, including Wanda Williams (Harrisburg, PA), Derek Slaughter (Williamsport, PA), Judy Ward (Pleasantville, NJ), Justin Brooks (Erie, CO), Darren Burrell (Darby, PA), Derrick R. Wood (Dumfries, VA), Shawyn Patterson-Howard (Mount Vernon, NY), Jaime Kinder (Meadville, PA), Rita C. Frealing (Gettysburg, PA), Waylyn Hobbs (Hempstead, NY), Chokwe Antar Lumumba (Jackson, MS) and Patrick Braxton, the first Black man to become Mayor of Newbern, AL, attendees and local business owners will find actional solutions, and gain valuable insights into city leadership in the region and beyond.
