Third-party validation highlights nonprofit’s commitment to providing customers with the highest standards of cleaning and building maintenance

Relay Resources, the region’s leader in providing meaningful employment for people with disabilities, today announced its Janitorial team has been recognized for the highest level of cleanliness, quality and efficiency from ISSA, the world’s leading trade association for the cleaning industry. Relay has been awarded the CIMS Green Building (GB) with Honors certification, which includes the Green Building Cleaning certification and the newly established GBAC (Global Bio Risk Advisory Council) certification.

“We are honored to receive this professional recognition from our leading trade association for demonstrating a high level of professional service delivered to our customers,” said DeeAnn Jurgens, Chief Operating and Financial Officer at Relay Resources. “Our janitorial teams at the Portland International Airport, the City of Portland, Multnomah County, and many other locations throughout the Portland metro area have spent years of training and hard work to meet the highest ISSA standards. By implementing the CIMS-GB principles into Relay Resources operations, we provide green cleaning services and assist customers in achieving points under the LEED-Existing Buildings: Operations and Maintenance (LEED-EBOM) Green Building Rating System.  We are also now GBAC qualified to provide janitorial services to clinics and health care facilities with cleaning needs that have the highest standards for disinfection and biohazard mitigation.”

Under the guidance of GBAC, a Division of ISSA, the worldwide cleaning industry, Relay Resources has implemented the most stringent protocols for cleaning, disinfection, and infectious disease prevention throughout its customer facilities, including the Portland International Airport and Portland State University. CMIS GB with Honors applies six core elements of management best practices, including:

  • Quality systems
  • Service delivery
  • Human resources
  • Health, safety, and environmental stewardship
  • Management commitment
  • LEED EB: O&M

“Compliance with CIMS GB with Honors means a cleaning organization has the modern systems in place to deliver professional cleaning services, which is crucial for moving forward post-pandemic in today’s competitive market,” said ISSA Director of Education, Training, Certification & Standards, Brant Insero. “We’re excited to welcome Relay Resources to a growing list of certified CIMS companies and look forward to continuing our efforts to help providers meet new demands and instill pride in their work.”
