BEAMSVILLE, ON / ACCESSWIRE / July 11, 2023 / Nestled below the escarpment in the picturesque Lincoln Lakeshore VQA, Black Bank Hill began with the vision of producing and bottling wine grown on our vineyard, ensuring quality and provenance. With a dedicated winemaking facility, we guarantee craftsmanship and meticulous oversight throughout the winemaking process.

Now you can experience the intimacy of private wine tastings at Black Bank Hill, available from Thursday to Sunday (including Mondays on summer long weekends). Led by Vintner Taylor Emerson or Winemaker Jonathan McLean, you can expect personalized attention and insight into the flavours and nuances of our remarkable wines.

Taylor Emerson founded Black Bank Hill in 2017, following his passion for wine and wine growing after switching careers to pursue a two-year Viticulture and Oenology diploma at Plumpton College, UK. Jonathan McLean joined Taylor in 2021 as winemaker bringing more than 10 years of winemaking experience in the Okanagan Valley, having worked at renowned wineries such as Cedar Creek, Tantalus, La Vieux Pin, La Stella, and Culmina, in addition to having degree from Brock’s CCOVI and a B.Sc. in BioChemistry from Dalhousie.

What makes this wine truly special is the captivating story behind its creation. Taylor initially had no plans to return to his native Canada. However, while immersed in articles assigned by his professor, he had a crystallizing moment about the connection between people and the influence of terroir on wine. In an interview with myarchives.ca, Taylor explained, “People are both shaped by the terroir’s influence on wine and simultaneously shape the terroir, forming a larger connection-a triangle.” This realization ignited a strong conviction within him as a Canadian to make wine in Canada. Taylor further expressed, “It was the perfect combination of the craft itself, our unique terroir, cultural identity, and the opportunity to contribute to a developing wine region that sealed it for me.”

Black Bank Hill’s wine tastings are designed to provide a personal venue to understand and experience these wines. To ensure the best experience, we kindly request that customers make advance bookings for private wine tastings via our website. Groups of up to 6 people can reserve their spot for $20 per person, and the tasting will last approximately 50 minutes. Walk-ins will be also accommodated wherever possible.
