Fields 4 Valor Farms Hosts Independence Day Service Day to Combat Veteran Food Insecurity

Read Time:1 Minute, 49 Second

Fields 4 Valor Farms, a nonprofit organization dedicated to ending food insecurity for Veterans, is hosting its inaugural Independence Day Service Day on June 28th. From 8 a.m. to 11 a.m., volunteers will gather at the farm to harvest and bag fresh produce for Veterans in need throughout the greater Maryland area.

Located at 14411 Baden Westwood Road, Brandywine, MD 20613, Fields 4 Valor Farms expects 50 volunteers to participate in this meaningful event. The harvested produce, along with steaks generously donated by Omaha Steaks, will directly benefit 25 Veterans and their families.

The event has garnered significant attention, with confirmed attendance from the Maryland Secretary of Agriculture, Maryland Secretary of Human Services, and Deputy Secretary of Veterans Affairs. Their presence underscores the importance of addressing food insecurity among Veterans in the state.

Peter Scott, Founder of Fields 4 Valor Farms and a 12-year United States Army Veteran who served as a Counterintelligence Agent assigned to Special Forces, emphasized the critical nature of their mission: “Veterans dedicate their lives to serving our country, yet many Veterans and their families leave that service to face hunger. I don’t think our Veterans deserve that. They have earned more than that and they deserve not to face hunger.”

While this Service Day is the first event related to the upcoming Independence Day celebrations, Fields 4 Valor Farms provides food to Veterans weekly throughout the harvest season, demonstrating an ongoing commitment to supporting those who have served our nation.

This event not only provides immediate assistance to Veterans in need but also raises awareness about the persistent issue of food insecurity among the Veteran population. By bringing together volunteers, donors, and government officials, Fields 4 Valor Farms aims to create a lasting impact on the lives of Veterans.
