Entertainmint, a New Streamer by and for Creators, Flips the Hollywood Script on Its Head

Entertainmint.com, a new collaborative storytelling platform that quietly entered beta on January 21, 2023, is the answer to a cry for fairness that indie and gaming creators have been screaming for years. Created by a team of indie film creators that also have vast expertise in tech across several platforms, it flips the script by removing gatekeepers entirely. The platform puts creators (directors, writers, actors) in the driver’s seat, allowing them to completely bypass the current streamer system and go direct to fans for funding, participation, distribution and more. Creator Grace NG raised funds to take her NFT collection into a 3-part animated series, Crash Punks, in 2022 via the sale of NFT to her fan base that allowed them to cast their NFTs as roles in the show. Ng won Most Innovative Creator in the Catalyst Story Institute awards.

If this is the future, what’s the elevator pitch? Entertainmint is a fan ticketing platform into collaborative creation experiences. The site focuses on breaking the wall between creators and fans and on helping indie creators monetize their content. Creators can sell or rent finished content direct to fans via a TVOD division, but also sell fan engagement tickets into the making of the work. “Our creators can provide simple access and collectible tickets to fans using a simple credit card form or provide digital tickets on the blockchain that allow fans to participate in the writers, production or casting rooms of a show AND optionally also participation in royalty pools creators set aside,” states Thiers, CEO and co-founder of Entertainmint. “We’ve worked hard to create something that is not a security, but rather a collaboration hub where fans can enter something they love at the level of co-creator.”

This model answers a lot of growing needs among creators and fans as well. “For every group of fans today, a good percentage want to do more than just watch a show,” states co-founder and VP of Distribution AJ Salmen. “Fans want premiere experiences with their favorite celebs and talent and even the chance to work alongside them-we remove the middleman and help creators go direct to fan. Think the standard streamer model, but where fans decide what gets made.” Creators benefit as well. Instead of selling their work for a project fee and being tossed off their own show or watching their shows disappear a month after launch, creators retain a majority of revenue and have no interference at all in the creative side of things.

Entertainmint’s platform is completely transparent. Royalties are tracked on the blockchain. AI usage is disclosed by creators in project summaries. Fans and creators can choose how to integrate and what to push to success.

The core team of Entertainmint has had 20 years of success in web2 and entertainment. Co-founders and marketplace builders Genevieve Thiers and Dan Ratner were founders of Sittercity.com, which raised 56M, served 10M and sold to Bright Horizons in 2020. Third co-founder AJ Salmen has over 20 years of experience in large streaming networks…his relationships with Tubi, Pluto and 20+ other streamers make up the team’s distribution side. Final co-founder Mark Vadik is an entertainmint lawyer of 20 years and an IP legal expert. All four are creators, who have shepherded pilots into studios and fought the hard fight to get content made. Thiers and Vadik are also actors and directors.
